“Ultimately, we’re not seeing a significant difference between 2021 and 2022 to this point, but we still expect that to change as we’re still early in the refund process,” Preslan said. That number is for both individuals and businesses and includes refunds for any applicable reasons, like telework, overpaid estimates or days out. Most refund requests come in closer to the tax filing deadline, which is April 18 this year.
Arrighi said 708 of the 1,512 requests waiting for approval are related to working from home. In a normal year RITA, which is the tax administrator for about 350 communities, gets about 1,500 requests.
