Lucile Randon, known as Sister Andre, was born Feb. 11, 1904. She died Tuesday at a nursing home in France.

PARIS -- Lucile Randon, considered to be the oldest person in the world, died Tuesday at age 118, French authorities reported.Guinness World Records confirmed Sister Andre as both the oldest person living and the overall oldest person in the world in April 2022, following the death of Japan’s Kane Tanaka at age 119.

Gerontology Research Group, which validates the ages of supercentenarians , listed Randon as 118 years, 340 days at the time of her death.she died at 2 a.m. on TuesdayAmerican-born Maria Branyas Morera, who lives in Spain, now is recognized as the oldest person. Her age, as of Tuesday, is 115 years, 320 days, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

the year Randon was born. She first encountered electricity by turning on a light in a classroom as a little girl.Randon tested positive for coronavirus in January 2021, shortly before turning 117. She had so few symptoms that she didn’t even realize she had been infected,
