The New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers conclude their four-game series on Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park.
“Those guys are the future of the Yankees,” Gleyber Torres said afterYankees management is hoping Torres is right with his assessment, but it’s too soon to know if they’ll turn into something similar to this generation’s Core Four, or if all or some of them bust like so many others who were supposed to be the next great thing.
“It’s kind of exciting to be honest,” Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole said. “There’s young blood in the house that is learning about the big leagues. They’re learning about themselves. You think about when you were in that position, from my perspective, and what can I do to help those guys out, help them acclimate as soon as possible and get into the flow of things.”
Starting this weekend, Dominguez and Wells will be in the mix and taking their first big-league hacks, too.
