It isn't until the movie ends, and the boys look at the girl in anticipation that I realized she is deaf. Using sign language, one boy asks,"Did you like it?" Turns out, they spent all that time trying to provide their friend with a magical-yet-soundless experience watching Star Wars. Mouth agape, the wide-eyed girl thanks them and does the sign for clapping. It's raising both hands in the air and twisting them back and forth, and you can bet I'm doing it, too.
