Guide for Salt Lake County voters who will cast ballots in city primary races.
For voters in eight Salt Lake County cities, ballots for the Sept. 5 primary — and the direction of their communities — are now in their hands.
Bluffdale, Brighton, Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Murray, Sandy, West Jordan and West Valley City all have primary runoffs for city council seats. Races that didn’t attract enough candidates to be added to primary ballots will be decided in the November general election. Voters in Salt Lake City, Midvale, Millcreek, South Salt Lake, Kearns and Magna will select candidates through ranked choice voting in the fall.
To help primary voters make their decisions in narrowing the candidate field, The Salt Lake Tribune reached out to all the council candidates in contested races and asked them questions on key issues.
