Zelda: TOTK features a concerning relationship.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Although there is a wide variety of people inhabiting Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one particular pair continues a highly questionable relationship begun in Breath of the Wild. Hyrule’s peoples are incredibly diverse, with no less than five races populating various parts of the kingdom.
Finley and Sasan are the focus of the TOTK side quest "True Treasure," which has Link navigate a cave’s shifting water level on a raft in order to deliver Sasan to Finley. Notably, the romantic language from BOTW is no longer evident in the pair’s interactions, although suspect undertones do still linger. For example, they talk about the adventure being a precious memory for the pair, and Finley asks to hold hands with Sasan on the way back.
Despite this, however, much of the dialogue found between Finley and Sasan in TOTK only serves to make their current relationship ambiguous at best. Although this may be to subtly reconcile different depictions across the two titles, the fact that it is glossed over rather than directly addressed can still lead to some uncomfortable moments.
