“I often call this movie, ‘Codependency: The Movie,’” the ‘Euphoria’ star said of the upcoming sexy tennis drama from Luca Guadagnino.
Prior to the industry-wide pause, Zendaya interviewed O’Connor forIn the piece, the pair dance around the particulars of Guadagnino’s “delicious” script. Before people label the film, O’Connor says, they should know that “it’s not just a tennis movie or a movie about a love triangle, it’s psychological, it’s emotional, it’s grief, it’s everything.” Adds Zendaya, “It’s super intense. I would agree.
Elsewhere in their conversation, Zendaya assures O’Connor, who says he based his character on the “fiery temper” of tennis pro“I don’t think you’re anything like Patrick.” That’s a relief, considering that their characters are “terrible,” according to the Emmy winner. “But that’s what was so fun, right? I hate to sayThat villainy extends to the character of Art, the final player in“Art has his own darkness and he’s definitely a puppet master,” O’Connor says.
Zendaya agrees, teasing that audience allegiance may shift upon repeat viewings. “Yeah, I’ve just enjoyed the conversations after the fact—Team Tash, Team Art, Team Pat. Who’s the bad guy? Who’s the good guy? And it changes every time,” she says.
