Amazon has pulled the plug on the Dash Button, but suggests that users can use their voice assistant in much the same way

Amazon has confirmed that it's pulling the plug on its ludicrous Dash buttons. The device was a small, battery-powered control that allowed you to order a specific product when you needed it. The most often cited example of this was the ability to order more toilet paper from your bathroom as soon as you noticed you were running low.

Around Prime day that became a draw, because the company would often discount Dash buttons but the discount would remain the same. Meaning you might, for example, get the button for $1 but still get a $5 discount on your product. For one thing people probably don't buy the same product every time. You might have a preferred a specific brand but your purchasing decision might also have been based on what was the cheapest product on the site at the time you were buying. And many people will also have disliked the uncertainty of the ordering process. Did it go through, how much will I pay, etc.
