Houston opts for extra pitching depth for potential seven-game series against Yankees

Houston is back to a full complement of 13 pitchers and 13 position players for the seven-game series against New York. The Astros carried a 12-man pitching staff for the best-of-five Division Series against Seattle. The Yankees will start, at most, two lefthanded hitters on a given day: first baseman Anthony Rizzo and designated hitter Matt Carpenter. Andrew Benintendi did not make their ALCS roster while he continues to recover from a fractured hamate bone, leaving them without much balance.
