The play opens with the poem The Indian in the Child by Sandra Sutter and Jim Pearce, which inspired the story. With a blend of Blackfoot tradition, poetry, song and dance, it also includes songs from Peter Gabriel’s 2011 New Blood music project.
“It’s not just a story of but it’s also a story of many other residential school survivors. And it does show what children who didn’t survive also went through.” Running Rabbit added big windows to the show in commemoration of a friend who was in residential school where she had day school. Her friend would always look out a set of large windows, hoping to see her parents.Article content
