Brush fire chars 19 acres south of Dulzura [Breaking]
A brush fire that ignited Monday night charred about 19 miles in Marron Valley, which is south of Dulzura near the U.S.-Mexico border, a fire official said.
The fire was reported just before 6:20 p.m. near Marron Valley Road in the Cottonwood Creek area, Cal Fire officials said. About 70 firefighters on five engines and two water trucks, plus four hand crews, battled the blaze on the ground, assisted by a water-dropping helicopter, said Cal Fire spokesperson Mike Cornette. The fire’s forward movement was halted around 7:30 p.m.Firefighters planned to stay at the site all day Tuesday to mop up and make sure it didn’t flare up, Cornette said.
