Frances Tiafoe hit the practice court at River Oaks Monday proudly sporting a No. 23...
Frances Tiafoe works out before the first round match of the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. MenÕs Clay Court Championship at River Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX on Monday, April 3, 2023.Hoops-wise, Houston has been a mixed bag for Frances Tiafoe, the No. 1 seed in the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship, which began Monday at River Oaks Tennis Club.
“That was super cool,” Tiafoe said. “It’s always super cool to talk to LeBron. I’m star-struck. I’ve known of him all my life of course, but he’s known of me for a while. It was good to get to hang out with him for a few minutes.” “That’s an honor,” he said. “I’m happy to be a top seed and I’m happy everybody’s excited to see me play.”
In fact, he skipped the ATP tournament in Delray Beach, where he won his only title to date in 2018, and happily hopped on a plane to Salt Lake City instead, where he drained a couple of mid-range jumpers in his team’s victory.
