Snow day? Some parents give New York Mayor Bill de Blasio grief after the storm fizzled out. But says one mother, “you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t”
Katie Honan and Leslie BrodyNew York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday defended his decision to close public schools based on a forecast of heavy snow, saying he had the safety of students in mind, not the possibility that the storm would fizzle out.
The forecast called for between 6 and 10 inches of snow and strong wind gusts from Sunday night into Monday morning, but the city saw only a fraction of that. By midmorning Monday, the streets were mostly clear and some parents lamented their children were missing class.
