State Sen. John DiSanto of Dauphin and Perry counties has asked the humane society to rethink their decision in a Facebook post Sunday.
It followed with a post on its Facebook page Saturday explaining the reason for the decision. That post read in part:
“Unfortunately, behavioral euthanasias are decisions that all shelters must make. It’s emotional for staff and volunteers alike. These decisions are made with great care and out of consideration for quality of life for the animal and the safety of the community. These calls are not made by one or two people. A team gathers and a discussion is had to determine if all safe options have been exhausted. When they have, then the hardest decision is made.
A protest is planned at the Humane Society on Monday morning in hopes of stopping the scheduled euthanasia.
