The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is urging people not to use two more brands of eye drops after the agency found the drops contained bacterial contamination.

, the FDA warned people not to use Dr. Berne’s MSM Drops 5% Solution and LightEyez MSM Eye Drops.

“Using contaminated eye drops could result in minor to serious vision-threatening infection which could possibly progress to a life-threatening infection,”Officials tested the eye drops and found that both brands had microbes in them and were not sterile. The FDA reported that Dr. Berne’s voluntarily recalled their eye drops, but the agency is still awaiting action from LightEyez, as the company has not recalled its product to date.

No issues have been reported with either product to date, but the FDA is warning consumers who have used the eye drops that if they have symptoms of an eye infection to immediately consult a health care professional. This is not the first time in recent months that eye drops have been recalled.because the drops were linked to a rare, drug-resistant bacteria that killed one and caused 11 others to go blind. Our journalism needs your support.
