On Friday, though, it was the bullpen that built this comeback. Even if half of the “relievers,” were actually starters who had been moved to the bullpen in the Rangers’ streamlined postseason rotation. Starter Nathan Eovaldi, bidding to become the first starter to ever win five postseason starts, lost the command of his splitter after two sharp innings, allowing a game-tying triple to Corbin Carroll in the third and a go-ahead homer to Tommy Pham in the fourth an another splitter. He was lifted in the fifth after allowing a run-scoring double to NLCS MVP Ketel Marte that gave Arizona a 5-3 lead.
