Though many of us have time off for the holidays at the end of the year, all too often we’re unable to truly unplug and de-stress. Here are some suggestions for making your year end time off, well, actually feel like time off.1. Temporarily delete social media apps from your phone.
Oh, the dreaded mindless social media scroll! We often open social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn on our phones throughout the day simply out of habit. These apps can take up hours of our precious time and leave us feeling drained. At their worst, they can make us feel like we have to measure up to others’ seemingly perfect lives . Consider a temporary break from your social media accounts by simply deleting the app from your phone.
When we respond to emails over the holidays, we’re telling others that we’re working. You can eliminate this expectation by setting up an out of office message that politely lets others know you won’t be getting back to them until you return from your holiday time off. No need to apologize in this out of office response: own your boundaries! At best, your out of office email may inspire others to get clear on their boundaries as well.
