‘Vanity Fair’ editor in chief (and ‘Moonlighting’ obsessive) Radhika Jones on the hours you absolutely need to watch now that the show is finally streaming on Hulu.
Millions of people younger than Gen X can now find out for themselves. Starting October 10, Hulu is streaming all five seasons of the series that broke all the rules, blew through its budgets, and most importantly made a household name out of Bruce Willis, in all his wisecracking, charismatic glory.
This is finally my chance to learn it by heart. Season 2, Episode 4, “The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice” Moonlighting brings in Orson Welles, smoking a cigar no less, to kick off a “very special episode” that changes to black and white 12 minutes in. Amazingly, before the show starts, a title card proclaims that the episode is dedicated to Welles’s memory, which means that shooting a cold open for Moonlighting was basically the last thing Orson Welles did before he died. What an epic flex.
