Mother reunited with 2 children taken when SUV stolen from in front of Oceanside home [Breaking]
A 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday in Oceanside on suspicion of kidnapping after allegedly stealing a SUV that had two young children in the back of the car, police said.The Acura MDX was parked at the woman’s residence on Freeman Street at around 7:50 a.m. when a man drove away with it, police said. The woman had loaded her two children into the back seat and was loading other items into the car when it was taken, police said.
Police found the children in another residential neighborhood in Oceanside around 8:10 a.m. after the suspect allegedly dropped them off there and left in the stolen vehicle. A resident saw the children and called police. Police found the suspect about a mile away. He was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, child endangerment, motor vehicle theft and other charges, and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Atenza said the man was “combative” before he was taken into custody.“We had, thankfully, a great outcome for a very unfortunate series of events,” Atenza said.
