Bill Madle said he last saw Ryda, his 8-year-old female yellow belly slider, on April 28. Madle was outside his home with the turtle on the corner of East 12th and Atlantic Avenues in North Wildwood.He said he noticed a group of three teenagers, one of whom was wearing a red, multi-colored hoodie. The kids were yelling at each other in disagreement, he said.
An official at Margaret Mace confirmed to NJ Advance Media that teachers relayed the message to their students, but no one has come forth with information regarding Ryda’s disappearance. Madle said he is offering $500 in cash to whoever returns Ryda, “no questions asked.” He said he wants whoever might have Ryda to know that she needs to be outside and submerged in water to survive.
“She needs water. She can’t survive on ground ... they can only eat in water,” Madle said. “And I’m thinking, if the kids have her, they might have her in some little Tupperware thing.
