When you shop the refrigerated dairy section of your local grocery store come August, one new item might catch your eye: Starbucks Creamers
Less than a year after Nestlé paid Starbucks $7.15 billion in a global licensing deal that gives the Swiss food giant rights to market and sell Starbucks packaged coffee and tea products, Starbucks Creamers is the latest product extension of the Seattle giant’s brand under the Nestlé deal. Nestlé in February also introduced the first-ever Starbucks single-serve capsules using its Nespresso and Nescafé Dolce Gusto machines.
The creamers will be sold at retailers including Walmart, Target and Kroger beginning in August and will not be available in Starbucks cafes, Jhung said. Market research firm Mintel estimated U.S. retail sales of cream and creamers last year rose about 5% to nearly $6 billion, and by 2023, the market will exceed $7.8 billion in size. In contrast, coffee market last year rose 4% to $14.4 billion and will increase to $18.2 billion by 2023, Mintel projected.
