New Mexico State University said it was recently made aware of 'new allegations... involving potential violations of university policy.' The team's coaches have been placed on administrative leave while the allegations are investigated.

New Mexico State has abruptly suspended operations for its men's basketball program while investigating unspecified potential violations of university policy, the school said in a statement Friday night.

The school said its next scheduled game against California Baptist on Saturday will not be played, and its men's basketball coaching staff, including first-year head coach Greg Heiar, have been placed on paid administrative leave. "NMSU personnel were recently informed of new allegations, separate from the events that took place in Albuquerque late last year, involving potential violations of university policy," New Mexico State said in the statement provided by university spokesperson Justin Bannister.
