911 emergencies still receive immediate attention. But if it's not urgent, you'll need to report it online. The online reporting system has been available for three years, but it has been voluntary up until this point.
For those without a computer, there is a kiosk at DPD headquarters.
"If you do it online, you can access it immediately and complete the report in 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the type of report that you're making," he said. The department's website went down, the 911 computer-assisted dispatch was crippled and detectives lost access to electronic case files. "We're hopeful we can get fully operational here in a few weeks on some of our main issues," he said. "I think the community should be very confident uploading to this online portal."
