Starting wages at the new stores range from $15 to $24 an hour, depending upon an employee’s job and local market conditions.
Target says its wages are based on industry benchmarking and local wage data, among other factors. The company said it offers tuition-free education assistance to employees, as well as access to counseling and doctors.
Target operates about 2,000 stores nationwide, and the company plans to open about 20 additional stores this year in a mix of sizes. Target stores range from several thousand feet to more than 200,000 square feet. A typical big-box Target store is about 125,000 square feet.
