Authorities are searching for a second suspect.
SAN BRUNO – A 16-year-old San Francisco girl has been arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $16,000 in merchandise from a Target in San Bruno, authorities said.
On Dec. 16, an employee reported that two suspects had entered the store at 1150 East El Camino Real, placed a large amount of merchandise into their bags and left without paying, San Bruno police Sgt. Kevin McMullen said in a news release Monday. One of the suspects got into the passenger seat of a waiting vehicle. McMullen said officers stopped the vehicle and detained the passenger, identified as the 16-year-old girl, and the driver, identified as a 21-year-old San Francisco resident, without incident.
Following an investigation, both were arrested on suspicion of crimes related to burglary, organized retail theft and conspiracy, McMullen said. The 21-year-old was booked into San Mateo County jail and the 16-year-old was released to a guardian pending a future court date at San Mateo County Juvenile Court.
