Luis Diaz Sala is accused of smuggling people from Cuba to the United States and forcing them to work to pay off debt. He remains in custody at Dallas County Jail.An Irving resident was arrested last month by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents under labor trafficking charges, according to a TABC news release.
He was suspected of being involved in labor trafficking after authorities learned of organized activity that included smuggling people from Cuba to the United States, the release said. Many of the individuals were allegedly forced to work at a TABC-licensed business to pay off smuggling debt.Investigators observed Diaz Sala at the TABC-licensed business several times, according the release, and confirmed his ties to the business’s management.
