Former University of Texas at Dallas student Shubhankar Kawle was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison after torturing a cat for five hours, ultimately leading to her death.

The cats' owner set up a nanny cam to determine what the cause of the wounds were. Kawle was videotaped torturing one of the cats for five hours on Oct. 9, 2021.The cat — whose name was Nimbus — had to be euthanized because of the severity of her wounds. A video of the torture was reportedly played in front of the jury.
