losing control and sliding into the hay bale barriers in two separate incidents on Sunday, causing some minor damage in the process.
The Team Lark-branded F1, driven in-period by Naoki Hattori and Ralf Schumacher in the Japanese Grand Touring Championship, was piloted by Jesús Gijón at the time of the incident. He lost control on his entrance to the always drama-filled Malcolm corner, kissing the hay and dislodging the front clamshell, and knocking the right-side mirror. Thankfully, Gijón was able to drive the car away, so we assume the damage isn't too catastrophic.
While we're sad to see cars like this get damaged, we'd be even more sad if they weren't driven at all. An occasional up-close encounter with the barriers is part of the risk of historic racing, one we're willing to put up with to see legends like these on the move.
