The U.S. did not agree to a $20 million emergency aid package to help battle wildfires announced by French President Emmanuel Macron at a G7 summit this weekend, a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council said

The fires, which are ravaging an area often dubbed"the lungs of the world", have drawn international outrage. In a news conference alongside Chilean President Sebastian Pinera on the final day, Macron said the G7 discussed the fires in depth and would offer $20 million to those Amazon-basin countries who sought help.
