The Institute of Living Standards and Prices in the United States released its latest Cost of Living Real and Quality of Life Indices. The report indicates that maintaining a minimum quality of life costs $47,100 for a single adult and $121,100 for a family of two children. The loss of purchasing power is not a new phenomenon, as many Americans are resorting to credit to maintain a lifestyle that their income allows. According to WSJ, the debt of Americans, excluding mortgages, has reached a record high even adjusted for inflation. The debt of students in 2019 exceeded $1.5 trillion. However, the percentage of those who considered it a major concern decreased slightly compared to 2024. The percentage was 37% in 2024 and increased slightly in 2025. The job market has become inaccessible for most households. The worst affected are the most vulnerable groups, who have faced greater difficulties in maintaining their livelihoods in the current economy.
